In February 2019 I am going to do the most physically and mentally demanding thing I have ever done! I am going to climb five different mountains in Ecuador ramping in elevation from 13,779’ to 19,347’ and culminating with a glacier climb to the top of Mt Chimborazo at 20,702’ elevation. This will be the most extreme conditions in which I have ever hiked.  I am going to have to train hard, get out of my comfort zone, and trust that God will get me through it. Let me explain why I am doing this, how it will have an impact, and with whom I am doing it.

I am doing this to create awareness of the need for clean water in Malawi. The difficulty level and stretch beyond my comfort zone are indicative of my commitment and my desire to help save and change lives. My participation in this challenging climb will hopefully make you aware that it has a very special purpose. The purpose is to raise money to fight against thousands of people dying each year from diarrheal disease caused by the lack of clean drinking water in Malawi.

My hope is that you will partner with me to make a difference. I have a fundraising goal of $10,000 (which will repair about 8 wells) to ultimately provide clean drinking water. It is sad that children are dying when a solution is so close to being available.  In 2017, 420 water wells (out of more than 10,000) were repaired primarily from “Clean Water Climb” donations. None of these funds will go towards my expenses. All the funds will go directly to Child Legacy International.

Child Legacy International is a 501c3 organization that works to provide safe, stable water sources in Malawi. They are also dedicated to feeding individuals and families in Africa by teaching them proper farming methods to encourage long-term sustainability. They have constructed healthcare centers to serve large communities of the most disadvantaged populations in Africa. They provide education and training to equip people with marketable skills or trades to succeed.

In lieu of the multiple paragraphs I had explaining the impact of CLI, I have included a link if you want to further check out the organization and the impact they make: CLI’s 2017 Impact Report.

Please help make a difference, be the change.  1 John 3:18
