My name is Eva Houle. I was born in Czechoslovakia, but I was able to flee to West Germany in my 20’s while Czechoslovakia was controlled by the Communist Party. I knew no one when I arrived in W Germany. I was young and had dreams about freedom and free life. In the beginning I was sleeping in the parks and didn’t have much to eat. However, with God’s help, I met many nice people who helped me get a new start and I began a new chapter in my free life.

After about a year in W Germany I began work in a hospital as a surgery nurse (I began my education in Czechoslovakia and completed the rest of my education in W Germany). I became very successful, and life was great.

After 13 years in Germany, I met the love of my life – my dear husband – while he was on vacation in Germany. My next chapter was marriage, moving to the USA, and becoming a mother of two beautiful children.

While they were quite young my husband succumbed to cancer. I continued to raise my daughter and son as best as I knew how. I recently had cancer myself – it was a year long journey, but I can happily say I am cancer survivor.

I am currently a personal trainer at Villa Sport in The Woodlands where I met Mike Navolio who told me all about the Clean Water Climb. I love what Child Legacy does, bringing clean water to those who only have contaminated water by repairing broken water wells in the villages and schools of rural Malawi.

I am going to do one of the hardest things I have ever done – hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and then on to Rainbow Mountain – along the way of which I will be at altitudes of over 16,000’.

But what I am doing cannot be nearly as hard as not having clean water to drink for months or even years at a time! Please consider supporting my fundraising effort to raise $5000 or enough to repair 4 broken water wells impacting 7800 people! I am paying all my own trip expenses, so 100% of your gift goes to Child Legacy’s Clean Water Climb ministry!
