The mountains are calling. I first heard them call as a 5-year-old, when I learned to ski. Years later, in 2014, I began the pursuit of my career which gives others the opportunity to see God’s magnificent creation and the evidence of who He is. God’s handiwork is in the mountains; you cannot miss him there.
On a daily basis, I overlook the concept of clean water. I miss the grandeur. My father designs water treatment plants that ensure water from the tap is safe to drink. He does not go and dig in a dried riverbed to find water. I don’t help him carry it on mules for 20 miles to reach our home. In Malawi and other rural areas of Africa, fathers, sons, daughters, and mothers spend 26% of their time seeking water. What do you spend 26% of your time doing?
Child Legacy International (CLI) strives to break the chains of waterborne diseases in Malawi by installing and repairing water wells to provide clean, uncontaminated water to the people who call Africa their home. This basic necessity gives life. Readily available, potable water prevents diseases such as cholera, typhoid, hepatitis—diseases that cause the death of 5 million children each year.
My sister introduced me to Clean Water Climb, a mission focused on raising awareness regarding the need for clean water and the need to actively repair wells. Child Legacy also educates those in need and shares the eternal hope of Christ. One well repair costs $1250. This year, with Clean Water Climb, my sister and I will hike Machu Picchu together. My goal is to raise $7000 which will repair at least 5 wells and provide clean water for 10,000 people. I am paying for my travel expenses. Any amount you donate will support the luxury we enjoy daily—clean water. Thank you for your support! I hope to share more with you along the journey for Malawi’s future!
