We are honored and thankful that you took the time to visit our page. To start, neither of us could be considered avid mountaineers, nor would our sea-level-situated Houston residence suggest from the outset that we qualify for the task at hand. Writing this months ahead of the planned adventure, I doubt we even possess the necessities for the hike alone, but we have shoes, jackets, and water, and so we do, in fact, have all the physical essentials.
For both of us this trip represents an tensive awakening to the gifts God has bestowed upon our lives and the everyday hardships faced by a staggering proportion of people made in the very same image of God that we were. Our fridges are stocked with flavored, carbonated, French-sounding branded water, yet many struggle to find even a puddle that isn’t tainted. We do not hold ourselves to such a high regard as to believe one climb can solve a major world problem, but we do believe that through one climb we can help to shine a light on a problem that the world can solve.
We would be grateful for any financial support that you are able to provide. Without it, Child Legacy would not be able to accomplish the good it will, and this trip would be nothing more than a personal pilgrimage. By supporting us, your donations contribute to the restoration of water wells in Africa to meet the need of millions of people, and, consequently, allow Child Legacy to divert more resources to their other programs in an effort to break the cycle of poverty in one of the world’s poorest countries.
