Mother-daughter pair Sara and Kate Binau are climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro for Child Legacy’s water well repair program in Malawi, Africa this summer!
Sara was introduced to and became a supporter of CLI (Child Legacy International) over 10 years ago with her husband Brian. She and daughter Kate traveled to CLI in 2015 and started to really understand the impact CLI was having on Malawi. Sara is a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor for over 25 years and presently loves training and racing triathlons. Kate is a high school Junior at Second Baptist School. Brian and Sara live in Bellaire, TX. and are both from Ohio and Buckeyes at heart. They are members of First Baptist Church. Brian and Sara totally enjoy their two grandsons who live in Denver with the Binau’s other daughter Alexis and her husband Michael. Alexis also visited CLI in 2008.
When asked “Why are you climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro?” Kate said, “It is pushing me out of my comfort zone, and I feel Christ calls us to be of service even when we look at a possibility and think it would be impossible to do!” Sara said, “Because it is something that I watched Mike Navolio lead for years and REALLY WANTED TO DO IT BUT, it seemed beyond my ability! I HAVE TO TRY if I want to help, if I want to make a difference…if I want to get clean water to people that are thirsting for WATER. If this climb will bring awareness, friends and other climbers to help – I too, am stepping out of my comfort zone!!”
When asked, “Why are you raising awareness and funds for clean water in Malawi?” Kate said, “Because water is a fundamental need and I can help people – lots of people- by raising awareness and funds for these people by climbing! Malawi is the fourth poorest country in the world.” Sara said, “Growing up I always wanted to help in AFRICA! Learning about CLI and the fact that TWO people had a vision and their model is working!! God is speaking to them, and to us!! This model that is working, can work all over the world in poverty-stricken countries!! Such a fundamental necessity – just clean water and we can work together to bring thousands, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS – clean water that sustains LIFE and share the Word of God – LIVING WATER.”
Sara adds, “I work harder when I feel like I am making a difference by helping others, the motivation I feel from knowing I helped to make a difference – FUELS ME!!”
Please help Sara and Kate bring clean water to 8 villages and schools in Malawi, Africa by supporting their goal of $10,000 for Child Legacy’s 2019 water well ministry! They are paying all of their own trip expenses, so all of your tax – deductible gifts go directly to providing clean water!
