Howdy,

My name is Mark Mahlow and I want to thank you for checking out our team’s page and being willing to consider giving to this amazing cause!  I am extremely excited about joining the Clean Water Climb for the first time to help support the charity, Child Legacy, which aims to provide clean water, healthcare, and other valuable services to the people of Malawi and Zimbabwe.

I love to do my research before donating to a charity to insure the majority of money I donate actually goes to a worthy cause and not absurdly high administrative fees, marketing expenses or other large, non-program expenses.  This information is easily accessible on the Child Legacy website under financials (or search for Form 990), and many sites (such as charitynavigator.org) can be helpful in breaking-down and understanding the financial reports. After researching Child Legacy International for myself, I believe it is an outstanding charity with a solid, well-stated mission statement and leaders that look to enrichen the less-fortunate and not themselves; therefore, I decided to not only monetarily support the charity but also participate in the fundraising process and hopefully raise even more money for an amazing cause.

I am participating in this hike to get a taste of the hardships that many individuals in poor, impoverished countries, such as Malawi, go through every day to simply access water.  I drink about a gallon of water a day and I can honestly say I very rarely think twice about what a privilege it is to have it readily available and drinkable.  I hope this experience serves as a reminder to me to always give of myself to serve others; I want to always be willing and ready to sacrifice my wants, needs and life to love my neighbor.

I have set a fundraising goal of $3,500 for this trip and would invite you to research the charity and consider donating.  I will be paying the funds for my own travel and climbing expenses, as well as making a contribution to my fundraising goal.  All of our team’s fundraising goes directly to Child Legacy International.

Thanks and Gig’em!
