Lucas and Cynthia Ashby are both native Texans that love dogs and traveling. They currently live in Conroe, Texas, and on the weekends you can usually find them hanging out at a cool spot with one or two of their three dogs. They met in college and have been married for 4 years.
After graduating college they started attending Church Project in the Woodlands, where Lucas lead a house church for awhile before being asked to serve as the projectKids Coordinator for a new church plant, Church Project North County. After three years at Church Project in The Woodlands, they moved north to Conroe where they lead and served together on Sundays in the children’s ministry for Church Project North County. They currently co-lead alongside others at Church Project North County in the children’s ministry.
Lucas has been teaching for five years, he is currently a 4th grade writing teacher at Splendora ISD and is completing his last year of graduate school at Texas Tech University. During college he served two summers in Kyrgyzstan, teaching baseball while helping spread the Gospel.
Cynthia has three Bachelors degrees and currently leads the accounting support team at Global Shop Solutions in The Woodlands, TX. During college she served as a missions intern at Houston’s First Baptist church, focusing on local missions work. She is looking forward to her first overseas mission trip with her husband, Lucas.
After learning about Child Legacy and the impact they have on the country of Malawi, the Ashbys wanted to find a way to help out. The Clean Water Climb was the perfect answer to this. They are passionate about all that Child Legacy is doing, in helping improve people’s quality of life and bringing the Gospel message to those that would hear it.
Lucas and Cynthia are paying for 100% of their trip, flight, and climbing expenses themselves but are raising money to go directly to Child Legacy International for the repair of water wells. $1,250 provides an entire village of approximately 2,000 people with clean water. In addition to your donation, Lucas and Cynthia will also contribute 10% of each donation that will go directly to Child Legacy. A huge difference will be made in people’s lives; clean water and the salvation of Jesus Christ.
