My name is Jason Pierce and, though originally from the great state of Texas, I now call Tanzania “home”. My family and I left the U.S. in March of 2015 to serve with SIM along the south coast of Tanzania where we live to share the truth of the gospel, equip local churches, and make disciples of Jesus.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to join this year’s Clean Water Climb and am eager to put forth my best efforts to reach the ‘Roof of Africa’ at the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

While the physical challenge and adventure of hiking 19,341′ up the side of a dormant volcano certainly has its appeal, it is not the main reason or purpose of the Clean Water Climb. Rather, the Clean Water Climb exists to raise awareness and financial support for Child Legacy International. An estimated 30,000 Malawians die annually as a result of not having access to clean drinking water. Child Legacy works tirelessly to fight this statistic by repairing broken wells and providing clean water for rural communities throughout Malawi. 100% of the total financial support raised on my behalf for this climb will be given to Child Legacy International and will be utilized to further their work in Malawi.

I’m also excited to announce that there will be a 50% match from an anonymous donor on behalf of the Light Shine Primary school project in Lindi, Tanzania (where we live)! The Light Shine Primary School is a joint project held in conjunction with SIM Tanzania and 6 local Christian congregations. The goal of this project is the construction and establishment of the Light Shine Primary School, which is the first Christian primary school in Lindi. What this means then is that for every dollar raised for clean water, our donor will give 50 cents toward the school project. Praise the Lord!

Over the course of the last two and a half years I have been able to see that these two issues are two of the major challenges that many East Africans face on a daily basis. I am excited, humbled, honored to have the opportunity to utilize this climb to play at least a small role in helping to improve the lives of my neighbors.

Would you please prayerfully consider joining our team?

May God be magnified!
