Hello, I am Vickie Fleming and I drink clean water every day and could easily take it for granted. What a blessing it will be to you and me to bring clean water to the people of Malawi, Africa through donations to Child Legacy International. You can help accomplish much!
My husband Pat and I have been married almost 40 years and have two grown daughters and 8 grandchildren. We both became followers of Jesus in our teen years which was over 50 years ago. While I was traveling and singing with a contemporary gospel group in 8 countries, Pat was working as a systems analyst and preparing for the day that I would settle down and marry him which I finally did after almost 3 years living in Mariefred, Sweden working in a small church as youth and children’s leader. He never gave up.
I have always loved singing and playing guitar and it has opened doors for me in nursing homes, and jail and prison ministry, and women’s Bible study groups where I have volunteered over the years. When I learned about a possibility to go to Malawi Africa, I saw it as another open door. I will be bringing my guitar to Malawi.
Besides serving as a volunteer, I have also worked teaching English as a Second Language and later College English at Lone Star Community College. As an English major with a minor in Geology, I love reading. I have studied books about Apologetics and Creation Science which some say is an oxymoron but I believe that God is not only wise but knowledgeable about the hard questions of biology and cosmology.
Reading about past revivals such as the Moravians and those who were martyred, or persecuted for their stand for Christ compels me to keep serving in whatever capacity God opens up for me. We will be sharing Bible stories in the Malawi villages where we repair broken water wells and I have found that the Bible is the best reading for anyone.
Gardening is another of my interests. I love my orchids indoors and my fruit trees, roses, lilies, and other perennials outside. I will love observing the farming efforts going on at the Child Legacy International’s sustainability project. There is much to love about Child Legacy.
Help me reach my goal of $1250, enough to repair one water well in Malawi. Thank-you for your support in this venture!
