Greetings from Jerry & Nell Sagehorn
We desire to make this trip to Africa and challenge ourselves with the adventure and effort to reach the summit of Mr. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Although it’s certainly a “bucket list” to reach the “Roof of Africa” (19,341’) having a “greater purpose” and joining a Clean Water Climb team adds significant meaning to our physical challenge.
- 100% of the support raised on our behalf for the Clean Water Climb will be given to Child Legacy International to benefit their clean water work in Malawi, the sub- Saharan African country that ranks among the highest in the world for maternal mortality and extreme poverty.
After our climb, we will travel to Child Legacy Malawi Campus and assist with the repair of water wells and hopefully decrease number of estimated 30,000 Malawians that die each year from malnutrition and water borne disease. Average life expectancy is 43 years and 25% of children die before the age of 5 – this tragedy can be altered dramatically with one principle: access to clean drinking water!
- Every $1 that is raised, 1-2 people receive clean water for 5 years!
Nell, a retired Labor & Delivery Nurse, is excited about serving for the Child Legacy International Hospital that aims to lower the rate of mother and infant mortality. The CLI hospital has provided 7,000 safe deliveries and is powered by 100% renewal energy and fully staffed by Malawian employees.
Child Legacy International is breaking the cycle of poverty by empowering the people of Africa to help themselves through the Sustainable Program Development Model – local people have ownership in building future opportunities for access to clean water, proper nutrition, medical care, education, agriculture, aquaculture, and vocational training.
- We value your prayers for us that God will provide opportunities to see spiritual renewal as the Gospel is shared during our time in Africa.
- Our goal is to raise $20,000. This will provide funds to repair 16 wells and will benefit 32,000 rural Malawians the good health needed to assist them in changing their destiny.
We would be honored to have you join us in our support of the Clean Water Climb.
Thank you!
