Father – daughter team Paul and Marydith Donnelly are joining the Clean Water Climb (CWC) in support of Child Legacy International’s (CLI) water well repair efforts in Malawi, Africa.
This will be Paul’s 3rd trip to Africa and second trip for the Clean Water Climb mission. Marydith will be making her 1st trip to Africa this summer. Paul is married to Judy who will be joining the trip and going on an extended photo safari while the climbers are on Kilimanjaro. A recent graduate from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and is now working in North Texas on a large solar power project. Marydith fills in her spare time renovating her first house. Judy and Marydith have done many mission projects with NCL including Meals on Wheels, supplying cookies, blankets and coloring books to hospital patients and helping at St. Peters UMC where Marydith grew up. Paul and Marydith have ridden in the MS150, Houston to Austin bicycle ride raising money for the fight against MS.
The mission is simple.
- Raise funds for water well repairs in Malawi.
- Clean / convenient water = better health = opportunity to work and further your education
- We are paying all of our trip expenses, so ALL of the funds raised go toward the mission
- Donations are tax deductible.
- Spread God’s word
- 90% of Malawians live in rural villages without access to paved roads, the internet, electrical power or even smart phones, so spreading the word requires good old “boots on the ground”
Why climb Kilimanjaro? Marydith looks at it as the first of many trips where she could use her supply chain and agriculture skills to help people in need by satisfying an immediate need for clean water and a longer term need to be self-sufficient and know the peace God brings. Paul having seen the needs in prior trips is going back again for many of the same reasons.
Our initial goal is $15,000 which will bring clean water to 12 villages and thousands of people. Help us meet and exceed that goal before we head out in July. CLI is doing amazing things for so many people that do not have the things that many of us in the states have been blessed with. To think about living without clean water and so many luxuries that we consider standard is difficult. We hope that with prayers and donations from friends and family we are able to make a lasting difference.
Thanks, and God bless everyone for their support and prayers.
Paul and Marydith Donnelly
PS: In a proud parent moment, while many graduating seniors are looking at new cars or exotic tropical beach breaks before work, I’m so proud that Marydith is taking this break before beginning work to “pay it forward”
Thank you gifts to support CWC are made from reclaimed railroad spikes.
