Welcome!

My name is Mike DiLauro.  Born & raised in Putnam Valley, NY, finished high school in Dunedin, FL, and then finally landed in Kittanning, PA.  I work as an IT implementation engineer for a medical radiology company.  At the age of 36, I have been in IT for 18 years.  Hiking was never something I would ever see myself doing.  I have run the Pittsburgh half marathon a few times, along with many 5K races.  Hiking didn’t seem intriguing until I had a few discussions with a good friend of mine, Mike Bowser.

The first time I hiked was fall of 2022 with Mike, a few other fiends & myself.  The journey up Mt. Katahdin in Maine.  The sheer magnitude of the beautiful landscape before my eyes, was truly breathtaking.  Physically I was a little unprepared.  I started out strong, once we broke the tree line I started to slow down; I was not used to breathing in higher elevation.  I received much motivation from the rest of the group which kept me moving forward.  Two of the most difficult obstacles I had to overcome was the Chimney, specifically climbing straight up, and the knife’s edge.   The knife’s edge is just as the name explains.

In the end, after all the physical & mental stress of the journey and witnessing the gift of God’s creation, I would do it all again.  The opportunity to hike on the Adirondacks, while also raising funds to provide wells in Malawi, Africa, has given this hike more purpose & motivation towards reaching our goal.

Our goal is two wells.  ($1,250 per well).  ALL donations will go directly to the Child Legacy Fund.  NONE of the money pledged will be used to cover the costs involved with the climb.  If now is not a good time to donate, we certainly understand, and we would ask you to consider supporting us with your prayers – we will certainly need them!

 Many blessings to all!
