We’re the Kinney’s.  Two sisters, Laura and Becca, and their dad, Bob.

Laura is an accountant in Raleigh, NC and Becca is an oncology nurse at UNC-Chapel Hill both currently living in Apex, NC.  Bob is married to Amy, the love of his life, these last forty-eight years and happily retired in 2020 after forty-four years in the insurance claims field including the last thirty-four years in the electric utility industry.

For the past year and a half Bob has been a volunteer at Dorcas Ministries in Cary where the mission is to help our neighbors thrive by providing financial and food assistance, training and coaching, client advocacy, a platform for people to make a difference, and a best-in-class thrift shop for our area community.  At Dorcas Ministries the core values are compassion, dignity, innovation, and stewardship which are many of the same principles embodied by Child Legacy International.

Ten years ago, Laura and Becca were able to join a Clean Water Climb to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro and after the climb traveled to Malawi, Africa where they were introduced to all that Child Legacy is doing on the ground there as well as to participate in the repair of water wells in the communities.

When the opportunity to join another Clean Water Climb presented itself we knew without question we wanted to be part of it and invited our dad to join us.  In January we will be reunited with some old friends/climbers and meeting some new ones as we take on Torres Del Paine in Chile for a seventy-five-mile trek over eight days.

Clean water is something many take for granted.  A long shower, a leaking faucet in need of repair, watering the lawn and shrubs, wasted bottles of unfinished water, or a hot summer day in the pool.

The mission of Child Legacy International is to provide clean water to villages, schools, clinics, churches, and mosques.  To provide education on health and hygiene, on well pump maintenance, and to provide every child access to safe clean water and a chance to develop, grow, and learn.

On a back-packing trek, you may find yourself asking if you are physically and mentally able and ready.  Well, God prepares our body, heart and mind to serve others and to trust in Him who will provide, who will calm our fears, and give us strength to meet each challenge ahead of us.  After all, in central North Carolina we are basically “flat landers” so the hiking challenge is great; but, greater is the reward to raise awareness and money for Child Legacy’s Clean Water program.

We hope you will prayerfully consider a donation to Child Legacy International where one hundred percent of your financial contribution goes to the ministry mission.  Today it costs approximately $1,250 to repair one water well which benefits 2,000 people.  Our goal is to raise $5,000, which will repair 4 water wells.

If you are unable to make a financial contribution at this time, we would greatly appreciate your prayers for our safe travels, health, and good weather.
