My name is Jonathan Kniffen, and I was born in Houston and moved around a bit but have been back in the Houston area for a few years now. I am the oldest of 12 children in my family (all home-schooled!) and we go to Church Project where I first heard about one of the church’s ministry partners, Child Legacy International. I currently work for Northwest Systems as an ice machine technician.

Child Legacy works in Malawi, Africa which includes vocational training at their sustainability project as well as bringing clean water to villages and schools throughout the entire country. Everything they do is based upon the Gospel. What I like about Child Legacy is that they empower the people of Malawi to become self-reliant. Child Legacy avoids creating dependency on outsiders by teaching the local people skills appropriate to the Malawi setting.

I also heard that Church Project goes to Malawi every year that includes climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money for Child Legacy’s water well repair ministry throughout that country. I am also looking forward to getting to know people on our team, our guides leading us up Kilimanjaro, and some of the people we will be meeting in Malawi including Child Legacy personnel.

I’d been thinking and planning on going on a mission trip for quite some time and this opportunity came up. Since I love the outdoors and had been wanting to go on a mission trip, I saw this as an opportunity to do both. I am very excited about going on this trip which I am paying for out of my own pocket, so the money you donate to my fundraiser goes 100% to the ministry.

One well repair currently costs $1250 and benefits about 2000 people. My goal is to raise $5000 which is enough to bring clean water to 4 rural villages and schools. Please consider supporting my goal to bring clean, safe water to about 8000 people by making any size donation the Lord leads you to make.
