I am originally from Downers Grove, IL and moved to Houston, TX where I worked as a leukemia nurse practitioner at MD Anderson Cancer Center since May of 1998 until March of 2022. Prior to that I was a stem cell transplant RN, also at MD Anderson. Before moving to Houston, I worked at the University of Chicago Medical Center as an oncology RN for 8 years. I have been married to Jim for 10 years and have a grown son, Kevin. I love my family, friends, and our 4 dogs. I have a special place in my heart for those with special needs, so I volunteered in Lakewood Church’s Autism ministry program, “Champions Club”, for 7 years.

I heard about Child Legacy International’s Clean Water Climb during a talk given by Mike Navolio at the Mobilizing Medical Missions conference (M3) at Lakewood Church in 2020, just before the COVID Pandemic hit the United States.

After I retired in March 2022, I participated the next month in a fundraising Clean Water Climb hike of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in the Andes Mountains to help raise awareness and funding for Child Legacy’s water well ministry in Malawi, Africa.  Now I plan to participate in another fundraising hike – this time in Tanzania, Africa – located just north of Malawi. Like last year’s hike, it will also be quite challenging, and very representative of the difficult life people have in Malawi with contaminated water.

This July’s trip will be to hike Mt. Kilimanjaro – the highest mountain in Africa (19,341’)! After conquering Kilimanjaro our team will then travel south to Malawi to repair broken water wells and share Bible stories with the Malawian people in rural villages and schools. We will be staying at Child Legacy International’s amazing sustainability project. I am looking forward to this trip to see God’s creation on display. I am also very excited to participate in the Malawi mission that not only brings clean water, basic to life, to the people of Malawi, but the Gospel message as well.

Please consider supporting my $5000 goal for Child Legacy International by contributing via PayPal, credit card, using my link above. This is enough to restore clean drinking water to 4 villages and schools or about 8000 people! I am paying all my own trip expenses, so anything you decide to donate will go 100% to the ministry! Please pray for me – that I not only reach my goal of summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, but I also reach my goal for Child Legacy International!
